Collection: Jill Kyong

Jill Kyong is a Washington-based artist who creates sculptural wall reliefs, sculpture, and studio furniture that explore connection and offer a sense of hope. Working primarily in wood, she builds layered compositions using form, shadow, and space to consider relationships between people and places.

Born in South Korea and raised in Minnesota, Kyong draws from personal experience, travel, and observation. Some pieces are minimal translations of the natural world, while others distill experiences and thoughts into simplified forms. Most often, the two come together.

Kyong’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Boise Art Museum, the Jundt Museum of Art at Gonzaga University, and Paine Field Airport. She has exhibited nationally and participated in numerous art fairs through gallery representation. Combining the clean lines of contemporary design with the warmth and character of wood, her work invites reflection and offers a sense of calm and strength.
