What might emerge if we give ourselves permission? Lotus is about finding the freedom to step outside of who we are expected to be and becoming something bigger or simply different. This piece was inspired by a musician I saw performing with a Korean death metal band. Onstage he was intense and commanding, but the person I came to know afterward was surprisingly different. The lotus, a flower that grows in muddy water, reminds us that we are never stuck. We can blossom even in dark times.
