Chris Kelsey

Artist Bio — Chris N. Kelsey

Chris Kelsey was raised in Montana, where he spent years playing drums in rock and country bands before turning his creative focus to the visual arts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Montana State University–Billings in photography and sculpture. During that time, he developed a deep connection to ceramics under the mentorship of Marcia Selsor. Clay has been his primary medium ever since.

Kelsey’s work reflects his interest in geology, structure, and the passage of time, translating natural processes into sculptural form. He has lived and worked in Spokane, Washington, since 2001. In 2007, he co-founded Trackside Studio Ceramic Art Gallery, a collaborative studio and gallery space.

Chris has done several large and small commissioned works and would be happy to work with you.
